Come Home to Your Body

Through Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi, Focusing, and body-oriented practices, we work together at your pace to build safety, regulate your nervous system, and cultivate a deeper sense of embodiment and resilience.

In the fast pace of life, stress, anxiety, and old wounds can leave you feeling disconnected—from yourself and from what truly matters. Somatic therapy gently helps you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, release stored tension, and feel more grounded, present, and empowered in your daily life.

Many people carry the weight of past experiences in their bodies—tight shoulders, racing heart, or that constant “on edge” feeling that talk therapy alone hasn’t fully eased.

You don’t have to figure it out alone. Sessions are collaborative, trauma-informed, and focused on your unique experience and goals.

In groundbreaking research at the University of Chicago, Psychologist Eugene Gendlin, Ph.D., discovered a powerful predictor of success in therapy: body sensing — the ability to gently tune into the sensations and emotions held in the body (what he called the “felt sense”).

Clients who could naturally access this body sensing had dramatically higher success rates in therapy — up to 95%. Those who could not saw their outcomes drop significantly. Even better, Gendlin found that he could teach this skill to most clients, helping them move into that high-success range as well. This research laid the foundation for modern somatic oriented approaches.

This is why somatic therapy is so extraordinarily powerful. By developing your capacity for body sensing, you can unlock deeper, more lasting change that talk therapy alone often cannot reach.

Sessions are with Devon Cortright, Psy.D., a licensed Clinical Psychologist who has offered somatic therapy and taught meditation for 15 years. Drawing on a decade of specialized training in somatic modalities, he help clients gently reconnect with their body’s wisdom and build lasting nervous system resilience.
